Winter Booties That Are Hot Right Now

Baby, it’s cold outside! Well, it’s not that cold if you live in Florida like me, hehe sorry had to rub it in, but let’s see which booties are hot right now for the winter season! I’m telling you, booties (which meet the ankle) and boots that meet about mid-calf, are super trendy right now! Knee-highs are out!

Furry Booties

Lose the knee high furry boots (those are so last year!) and shrink it down a little to the ankle or mid-calf, add some fur and lace, and you’ve got a cool, cozy hiker bootie!

The Lace-Up

Laces are hot! They can be rugged or trendy..check out these two styles below.

The Cowgirl Bootie

Cowgirl boots are hot right now but wear them as an ankle boot or else risk a knee high cowgirl boot and look like you just walked out of an old western movie…tacky!

The Fold-Over

Neat can get boring at times! The fold-over bootie with the tongue hanging loose looks cool, as if you didn’t have to try so hard to look so good. Leave the laces in a loose bow or untied for a more effortless look (as long as you can walk and don’t trip over them!)

The Chunky Platform

Lady Gaga-inspired, coming in cool leopard prints and solids, these are super fashion-forward and can be worn for day or night.

The Belted Bootie

Instead of lace, opt for a belted bootie! Double or triple belted make it even more trendy!

All of the booties seen here are from Steve Madden!

Hiker Booties are Hot

Too bad I moved to Florida (not complaining, really!) or else I’d buy me like 6 pairs of these adorable hiker booties. They’re so stylin for winter with some skinny jeans tucked in. Get these and more versions of the hiker bootie at Stevemadden.com.

Super Chunky Wedges

Wedges just keep getting chunkier and chunkier! These are super high and there’s no arch in the foot at all…just a flat platform. Would you wear them? I feel like they would be hard to walk in. Find these wedges and more new styles at Steve Madden.

Sneaker + Bootie = Snootie

A new term for the sneaker heel has been coined compliments of me and my lovely friend Sara. Last year we saw “sneaker heels” on the runway by DKNY and I couldn’t find a pair that was sold online or in the stores for the life of me. Now the almighty “snootie” (not to be confused with Snookie please!), is everywhere! Steve Madden has a variety of snooties for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2010 that come in autumn shades of neutrals and black.

If you haven’t realized it by now, the “snootie” is the combination of a sneaker and bootie. A bootie and boot are 2 different things. A boot is ususally calf-high, knee-high or thigh-high. A  bootie reaches just around or above the ankles. The “snootie” is an ankle boot that contains laces resembling a sneaker…part sneaker, part bootie. What will they come up with next?

Check out some of the snooties Steve Madden has to offer.

The “Biing” by Steve Madden.

This one I love because the grooves under the boot resemble that of a construction boot and the heel resembles a wedge, giving the impression of “I’m sexy and can fix things without the help of a man!”

Royal Blue- The New Black

Ditch the classic black dress, pumps, (for now), etc. and spice up your life with some royal blue. This is such a gorgeous color and I’ve always been a fan. But lately, I’ve seen it popping up everywhere. On shoes, (bought my very own pair of royal blue wedges, so hot! and only $20 at Burlington Coat Factory), dresses, tops, even on nails! Check out some of my suggestions below. This color is perfect for the remainder of summer and even for the Fall/Winter. It’s a beautiful shade and will bring out the color of anyones eyes!

Don’t overdo it though. You don’t have to wear a royal blue dress with royal blue shoes to match. Let the dress be the focal point OR the shoes. You don’t want to be too matchy-matchy.

I am in love with skirts lately. Hike it up (not too high) and tuck in a loose, printed top in place of a dress.

Wild, Wild West

The western look is another big trend sneaking its way into Spring 2010. Follow these tips so as to not look like you’re sporting a cowgirl costume for Halloween.

1. Go nude. Not literally. Opt for beige and tan shades like Alessandria Ambrossio’s outfit in the photo. Beige pants, an open tan vest, and throw some white in there for some contrast, so you don’t appear naked from afar. Very laid-back & country-like.

2. Skip the cowboy boots. This trend is for the spring, so put the boots on the back burner and get a pair of nude or brown wedges. They’ll go with everything and anything so you’ll get a lot of use out of them.

3. Keep it asymmetrical. Draped, asymmetrical tops are a big trend for spring. It’s a nice, casual look and it still gives that western care-free feel.

4. Skip on white pants. Beige is a safer alternative to white pants. You won’t worry as much about getting them dirty..okay a little bit but not as much as pure white! And beige or tan aren’t see through like white risks being.

5. Add some fringe. Fringe is popping up everywhere, which is a perfect touch for the Western look of course! Fringe on tops and vests looks hot, especially long sexy fringe like the Guess Vest pictured above.

Boots Reach New Heights

Boots are always hot for the winter time. They cover your chilly toes and keep your legs warm, plus you can layer knee high socks underneath to keep even warmer and no one would even see them. They look hot with dresses or over jeans. They can dress up an outfit if they have a heel, or just add style without a heel at all…keeping it casual but cute. Well this season, celebrities and models are rocking the thigh-highs. It sounds like something only Cat Woman would wear but nope, we have permission to wear them too, without looking like a hooker!

I found these from Guess and I already bought a pair and will be getting them on Christmas :) . They are expensive on the website but a little secret: I found them at TJ Maxx, and they were only $99!! So if you have a TJ Maxx near you, run, seriously, RUN there right now and pick up a pair before they are all gone because they are super sexy. They even fold over so they can become a regular knee high boot as well.

They’re not skanky because they aren’t super high of a heel. Thigh high boots look great over jeans. They also look fantastic with short dresses. Check it out:

Shakira rocked thigh highs with a short, strapless dress (the same one Pink wore) at the VMA’s.

Rihanna in studded thigh highs and a sweater dress:
