Sneaker + Bootie = Snootie

A new term for the sneaker heel has been coined compliments of me and my lovely friend Sara. Last year we saw “sneaker heels” on the runway by DKNY and I couldn’t find a pair that was sold online or in the stores for the life of me. Now the almighty “snootie” (not to be confused with Snookie please!), is everywhere! Steve Madden has a variety of snooties for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2010 that come in autumn shades of neutrals and black.

If you haven’t realized it by now, the “snootie” is the combination of a sneaker and bootie. A bootie and boot are 2 different things. A boot is ususally calf-high, knee-high or thigh-high. A  bootie reaches just around or above the ankles. The “snootie” is an ankle boot that contains laces resembling a sneaker…part sneaker, part bootie. What will they come up with next?

Check out some of the snooties Steve Madden has to offer.

The “Biing” by Steve Madden.

This one I love because the grooves under the boot resemble that of a construction boot and the heel resembles a wedge, giving the impression of “I’m sexy and can fix things without the help of a man!”

PASTRY SHOE ICONS VANESSA AND ANGELA SIMMONS DONATE TO HAITI EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS

NEW YORK, NY – Celebrity sisters and Pastry shoe brand entrepreneurs, Vanessa and Angela Simmons, announced their commitment to provide assistance through official Haiti earthquake relief efforts. The powerful earthquake struck Haiti on January 12 and was centered about 15-miles from the nation’s capital, Port Au Prince, causing an estimated 100,000 deaths countrywide.

With nearly 50 percent of Haiti’s population under the age of 18, a donation of Pastry shoes, as well as clothing, will be delivered to the local children. “Being able to give Pastry shoes and clothes to these kids during such a devastating and critical time is our way of helping and showing support when it’s needed most,” shared Angela Simmons.

Contributors to the creation of the popular and successful Pastry brand, the Simmons’ humanitarian efforts will help fulfill the needs of Haiti’s youth who have had their homes destroyed and are without shelter. Vanessa Simmons stated, “We can all do something to help. Pastry has chosen to give Haiti’s kids who are displaced and vulnerable to this heart-breaking situation. We pray that they will overcome this unfortunate and horrible tragedy.

Working in conjunction with the American Red Cross, Pastry’s donation of sneakers and apparel addresses the urgent need to aid earthquake survivors who have lost their belongings. For children seeking shelter and protection from the elements, the Pastry shoe donation offers sustenance and warmth.

We’re encouraging all Pastry shoe fans and loyalists to contribute and donate to the Haiti earthquake relief efforts,” responded Vanessa. “If each of us do our part, we can make a big difference together,” concluded Angela.

Pastry will continue its corporate social responsibility by actively monitoring developing outcomes in Haiti and adjusting future donations accordingly. “You don’t just give and call it a day,” claimed Angela. “Watching and learning about other ways that we can help, especially in this time of need, is just part of doing the right thing for others.

Spice Up That School Uniform!

This is for the teenagers that may read this blog! Some schools have boring school uniforms. How are you supposed to show off your personality and fashion sense when you look like everybody else? Well, you can just by accessorizing!

Hair:

Try a new do. Wear your hair down in flirty loose waves. Use a curling iron but don’t hold the curl for too long, to create looser waves.

Add a fun, colorful headband to your hair! Or make one with your own hair by braiding your hair from one side of your head to the other and wrapping it over to the other side, securing underneath.

Nails:

Wear a brightly colored hue on your nails to really make you stand out! Neon nails are hot right now. Any color goes! So have fun with it.

Have fun with your nails, add gemstones and fun designs. French manicures using different colors such as black and white, or hot pink and baby pink, are a fun twist to the classic beige and white french manicure.

Accessories:

Celebs have been rockin’ “summer scarves” all season but they are a perfect accessory to your boring school uniform for Fall. You will look instantly stylish!

Knee socks in fun colors are what a lot of teens wear to make their personalities & fashion sense shine when it comes to their school uniforms. Buy a fun striped or plaid pair!

Costume jewelry is a great accessory to spruce up your uniform. From dangling earrings, to long, layered necklaces, and big bangled bracelets…

Shoes:

Try some funky converse sneaks or other printed and brightly colored kicks. Or cute flats!
