Retire the Bodysuit, Celebs

Lady Gaga brought back this Madonna look last year but I think it’s time we retire it. Yes, the bodysuit is a great costume for performing, especially when it’s all sequined and glittery and topped with some thigh high boots. But I think this pantless look should not migrate into the streets or red carpet. Can we put on some sexy high waisted shorts and let the top of the bodysuit stick out like a corset? Still sexy without showing us your big booties and thighs. I’m over it! What do you think?

Normally when a person travels, they throw on some sweats, maybe a hat, and a hoodie so they can be comfortable; plus all the good stuff is packed away. But celebs know they will be snapped left and right by paparazzi, so yes, they even rock stilettos while strutting through LAX and JFK. Check out these A-listers, who know how to stay stylish in casual wear.

It’s all about layering. Sweaters over tees, a leather jacket over the sweater, a big, chunky scarf over the jacket. Shades over the eyes. A hat over the hair. I guess you could call it “disguising oneself” but why bother, we know who you are! Layering is a great way to be stay trendy.

Cropped leather jackets are a big trend with traveling celebs. So are chunky scarves, big, black sunglasses, hats, and ripped jeans.

Beyonce rocks leather from head to toe while Jay-Z keeps it to a minimum, pairing a leather jacket with a hoodie, checkered scarf, and sweats. I like the dressed up look (leather jacket) paired with casual (hoodie). Try it out!

David Beckham sports a light green hooded leather jacket that combines the hoodie/jacket look in just one layer over a crisp white tee.

Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen Commits Suicide

I wanted to talk about how happy I was that I surpassed 1,000,000 hits on my blog, (thank you readers), but I am going to post a tribute instead to Alexander McQueen.

British fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, was found dead this morning in his London apartment at the young age of 40, of what seems to be an apparent suicide. There are no details yet except that the UK Daily is reporting that he hung himself. This comes only a week after his mother has passed and just three years after his close friend, Isabella Blow who discovered him, committed suicide.

McQueen is known for his flamboyancy and outrageous designs that adored the likes of super stylish celebs such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga. McQueen received recognition from Queen Elizabeth II in 2003, when she made him a Commander of the British Empire for his fashion leadership. He has won countless awards and recognition since then for his dramatic designs and made a huge impact on the fashion industry as a whole. He was extremely talented, and wasn’t afraid to take risks within his work.

McQueen died only days before London Fashion Week, although he was not scheduled to show in the British capital. This news has come to a shock to many and we are deeply saddened by his loss. Check out some of his famous work below.

Boots are always hot for the winter time. They cover your chilly toes and keep your legs warm, plus you can layer knee high socks underneath to keep even warmer and no one would even see them. They look hot with dresses or over jeans. They can dress up an outfit if they have a heel, or just add style without a heel at all…keeping it casual but cute. Well this season, celebrities and models are rocking the thigh-highs. It sounds like something only Cat Woman would wear but nope, we have permission to wear them too, without looking like a hooker!

I found these from Guess and I already bought a pair and will be getting them on Christmas . They are expensive on the website but a little secret: I found them at TJ Maxx, and they were only $99!! So if you have a TJ Maxx near you, run, seriously, RUN there right now and pick up a pair before they are all gone because they are super sexy. They even fold over so they can become a regular knee high boot as well.

Rihanna Wears a Hot Jacket in “Live Your Life” Video

Omggg this white jacket Rihanna is wearing is so unique! It looks like it came straight off the runway. She really rocks it and makes it edgy whereas I can see it being very feminine and romantic. It resembles a flower, doesn’t it? So does her hair lol. You can only have short hair or your hair must be up to rock this jacket or else it just wouldn’t look right. I tried desperately finding something similar to this online but nothing is as unique. If you find this jacket or something similar and cheaper, leave a comment!

Rihanna To Start Fashion Line / Chris Brown Underwear Line

Rihanna was spotted at the Gucci Spring/Summer 2009 fashion show in Milan, Italy this September. This is where she confirmed that a clothing line of her own is in the works! Why ever celeb has to have a clothing line, I do not know but it sure is easier for them to break through and be successful with a line since they’re already famous. But I love her edgy, funky style and I can just imagine her line to be just as hot. I hope her clothes are affordable because I know I’m going to want some! Once I find out the name of the line, I will let you know.

And Mr. Chris Brown has started an underwear line called “Big Headed.” You dirty boy you. He claims that the title of the line has to do with his confidence and big ego, and that is what the line represents. The boxers are meant not to ride up and they are comfortable and stylish looking. They also have some stuff for the ladies including a peek a boo sports bra and super cute shorts that look like guy’s boxers in a cropped version. Check out the line at bigheaded.com.

The New Short Do

Celebs are sportin’ short hairstyles left and right. The long bob is one, with hair parted to the side, all one length, and sweeping the top of shoulders. Another is the curly bob, basically the long bob but curled! So don’t fret, there’s different things you can do with your hair even if it’s on the shorter side. It’s a more modern twist on the Marilyn Monroe curly bob. Rihanna is the most daring, sporting a super short cropped do, she curls it from time to time and other times leaves it straight and messy. I am not a huge fan of super short hair but she definitely pulls it off and still keeps it interesting and fun by doing different things with it.

2008 BET Awards–The Ladies

There were some ladies that chose dresses wisely and looked beautiful..while others..still don’t know how to dress.

I love Alicia Keys..she always looks great and I love how she can pull off that crazy Pebbles hair. The pink color is nice, I really like the dress, the only thing I don’t like is that I’m not a huge fan on bubble dresses..they don’t usually flatter the hips area, and Alicia definitely has some hips so it only makes them look a bit bigger. But she still looks hot. Her long gown she wore later in the night I loved but I can’t find a photo.

I always thought she was one of the prettiest. Her legs look fantastic and her dress is cute too, along with her hair. I like how it’s swiped to the side like that. She looks perfect!

I think Gabrielle Union looked beautiful too. I really loved her hair pulled back in a flirty, high pony tail with waves. I also love the neckline of the dress and it’s very innocent and flowy. Great job Gabbie.

Her new hair..ehhhhh. Makes her face look chubby. I’m sorry Jen I love youuuu! The cut is nice, the bangs are nice, but it’s not that flattering…maybe if it grew out just a bit. Also her dress is beautiful, I love the color and how she isn’t afraid to show off them curves! Classy!

Jordan Sparks..GORGEOUS!! She definitely stands out against that red background. I love the color of her dress, the shine, and the style. Sexy..her hair looks amazing too. Slight bubble effect to the dress but still fitted. Sexy. Perfect choice Jordan!

Keri something. She hosted the aftershow party. I am not a fan of the bowl cut. Sorry. I don’t do jumpsuits either..she looks slim and great in it but if that was a dress it’d be hot. The jacket looks nice over it though..edgy. Don’t really like the shoes, looks like something I could find at Payless.

I love Keyshia Cole..she pulls off that short do. But I don’t like the dress. Need to see it from the front but it’s kind of confusing. Bubble dress with a bow? I don’t know..sick of these bubble dresses! You have to be careful with them. Then her sleeves look poofy. Ehh. Her performance outfit was hot though. She wore a white dress then the bottom was taken off and it became a jumpsuit. It was sexy!

She doesn’t look too thrilled. But her dress is very nice and classy, and she’s rocking that violet shade I talked about! Gold shoes complement the color of the dress.

I love Lil Mama but come on girl. She never fails to shock us with a ridiculous kiddy outfit that looks like a costume. The sneakers are hot but you do not wear sneakers with a dress to an awards show. She looks like she has a cute little body but she never shows it off with a fitted dress. If dressy isn’t her thing then fine, put together a fun casual look like the boys do but don’t wear these ugly costume dresses! Another one of those hairstyles too I see.

She rocks the short do as well and the yellow dress is pretty but there’s something about it I don’t like. I think it’s this: she goes for the edgy look with the hair, and the lipstick, but then her dress is summery and girl next door type. Too much of a contrast with her overall look. I think if she wanted to wear the dress, she should have eased up on the makeup and did a summery, bronzey look instead with a nude or peachy pink lip. She looked fantastic on stage though except for the weird neck thing that looked like it was holding her head up.

Oooh I think Solange looks so pretty!! I love her dress..it’s different and it’s got a great print and color combination to it. Her clutch is fun and feathery to match the dress..I love how it’s different as well. I think her hair looks beautiful in flirty waves to go with the entire look. I think she’s one of the best dressed.

Toccara lookin’ beautiful. Her dress is very flattering to her sexy curves and I think she pulled it off perfectly. Her hair looks gorgeous too and those earrings! Flashy! Shoes are simple. Well done.

I think I’ve seen Trina in yellow before..not sure where..maybe 106 & Park? I don’t know but anyway her hair is hot and I like how she made a simple dress/top look sexy with some gold heels and hot legs!
