Jean Yu Debuts Design Collaborations with Proenza Schouler and Rag&Bone at NY Fashion Week Spring 2011

(New York, NY)— Spring 2011 is a season of debuts for Jean Yu, whose designs include both ready-to-wear dresses and lingerie. The eponymous line attracts a circle of insiders including editors of high fashion glossies and, most recently, the design houses of rag & bone and Proenza Schouler. Yu collaborated with both lines for their respective runway presentations at New York Fashion Week. The limited edition designs are now available for sale and will hang with both ready-to-wear collections.  The collaborative pieces are available as separate labels, titled Jean Yu x Proenza Schouler and Jean Yu + Rag&Bone.

Proenza Schouler design duo Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough invited Yu to work with them after falling in love with her classic triangle bra, calling it “the most beautiful lingerie” they’ve ever seen. The transition from Yu’s eponymous lingerie to Proenza Schouler’s ready-to-wear runway collection was, in a word, seamless. The two designers are akin in terms of refined luxury and client base, so Yu’s lingerie was easily incorporated with Proenza Schouler’s ladylike suits. New colors and materials provided a fluorescent spin on Yu’s classically minimalist designs. Yu gives kudos to the stylists, as she felt like she was seeing her bras for the first time.

“The collaboration with rag & bone required me to go outside my norm,” Yu says of the designs that she built from the ground up for designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville.  Using fighter pilots in g-suits as inspiration, Yu used two-inch webbing material to create bold, utilitarian harness-strap designs to complement the military-inspired collection. This challenged Yu to channel a rugged sensibility that directly contrasts Yu’s design signature: refined construction using the most delicate fabrics. “The designs for the rag & bone show functioned as accessories, less as lingerie- as originally intended.”

“It’s like a funhouse. Everything is double, double, double,” Yu says of the collaborations: double male design teams, double runway shows, and double front-row appearances by Anna Wintour.

All three designers have been selected as finalists for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund—Jean Yu in 2005, rag & bone in 2006 and Proenza Schouler winning first place in 2004.

The designer is debuting yet another line called 180 by Jean Yu, aptly named for its complete departure from her first line.  Whereas her designs were once quite delicate, decadent and high-maintenance, 180 is a capsule collection of simple, effortless items.  Sales and appointment are available at The News Inc, 495 Broadway, Telephone (212) 925-9700 x103.

Sexy & Affordable Lingerie at Burlington Coat Factory

Everybody loves a bargain. I did a lingerie fashion show this weekend and I needed two outfits last minute that were not only sexy and burlesque looking, but affordable! Burlington Coat Factory did not let me down. They have an entire wall of lingerie and each set is only around $9.99! You cannot beat that! I picked up three sets of lingerie just in case, since it was so cheap. They don’t look cheap either. They had the sexiest corsets in all colors, bra and underwear sets with little skirts and garters, and even some lingerie costumes- french maid, cop, gangster, etc. (Perfect for Halloween which is around the corner!) Here’s two that I picked up for myself. Of course, they both came with a little thong to match but I wore boy shorts for the fashion show…didn’t want to show too much! I felt super comfortable in these two and they fit perfectly.

This one was my favorite. I paired it with black boy shorts and knee high stockings to match. Wa la!

This one reminded me of a gangster costume with its pinstripes so I bought a black hat and gloves to match. Too cute!

Burlington Coat Factory also has a huge selection of clothes, dresses, outerwear, accessories, and shoes for men, women, and children….they have it all. It’s all affordable so find the store nearest you!

Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2009

I look forward to this show every year! The Black Eyed Peas performed at the fashion show held in New York this year. This show was especially unique and cool, with many different fun themes and bright colors, with futuristic wings and things. The Pink line was super cute, with hot colors, prints, sequins and glitter. I especially loved the peacock look and the enchanted forest outfits. I am also very happy for Kylie who became the new Victoria Secret Angel and got to strut her stuff for the first time last night! She is beautiful and has the perfect VS Angel look. Always nice to see a fresh face! Check out some of the pictures from last night.

You’d never think this woman had any kids..she looks amazing! Heidi Klum walks the runway at the annual Victoria’s Secret Holiday Fashion Show which took place at the Fontainebleau on November 15, 2008 in Miami Beach, Florida. The show will air on CBS on December 3rd.

I think it’s so creative, that big, beautiful red bow they stuck on Heidi as if she were a sexy little present! It’s a nice twist since we’re so used to seeing the models in those signature angel wings! Check out some of the photos below and be sure to watch it on CBS, Dec. 3rd, 2008!

Rihanna To Start Fashion Line / Chris Brown Underwear Line

Rihanna was spotted at the Gucci Spring/Summer 2009 fashion show in Milan, Italy this September. This is where she confirmed that a clothing line of her own is in the works! Why ever celeb has to have a clothing line, I do not know but it sure is easier for them to break through and be successful with a line since they’re already famous. But I love her edgy, funky style and I can just imagine her line to be just as hot. I hope her clothes are affordable because I know I’m going to want some! Once I find out the name of the line, I will let you know.

And Mr. Chris Brown has started an underwear line called “Big Headed.” You dirty boy you. He claims that the title of the line has to do with his confidence and big ego, and that is what the line represents. The boxers are meant not to ride up and they are comfortable and stylish looking. They also have some stuff for the ladies including a peek a boo sports bra and super cute shorts that look like guy’s boxers in a cropped version. Check out the line at bigheaded.com.

Lady in Red

Apparently red isn’t the hot color this season. Well I think it’s a classic, but yet I needed to wear something red for this event Im attending this weekend, and I shopped for 3 days straight at over ten stores and two malls, only to find barely any red! And as for red dresses…no way! There were like 3 in all the stores combined and they weren’t appropriate for this event. They were boring! I need sexy! But not trashy. So today I finally found the perfect dress..sexy but classy. The one store that had tons of red options: Fredericks of Hollywood! They got rid of the store in our mall, so I went to the website today thanks to a co-worker who gave me the idea, and we found so many hot red corsets, tops, pin up girl looking tops, and dresses! I had about 5 maybes before I came to a definite yes! I didn’t even know Frederick’s had clothes. I thought it was all a bunch of porn-inspired lingerie but I was wrong. They have a wide variety of things, kind of like Victoria Secret. Check it out. And here’s the dress I bought.
