The Simple Beauties Take the Crown on the Golden Globes Red Carpet

Nude was a big color seen on the Red Carpet this year at the 2012 Golden Globes, along with gray, and just solid colors in general. A bright red like Reese Witherspoon’s dress is enough to make a bold, sexy statement, so who needs a fancy updo and makeup? Not her, that’s for sure. All the female celebs who opted for a solid or neutral shade definitely took the crown for Best Dressed across the board, not only on my blog but on several others.

When you go for a simple, classic look, YOU wear the dress. When you go for a ridiculous, printed, poofy dress like Sarah Michelle Gellar or Madonna, the focus is on THE DRESS and you don’t want that. So take note from the following celebs ladies!

      

Orange is the New Red

Hot corals and red oranges are the hottest shade for lips and nails right now. Red is a classic but it’s always nice to get a little trendy so opt for a more orangey red shade to a more fiery look. Looks great on nails or lips and matches with opposites such as blue so try coral lips with a royal blue top to look real tropical and exotic.

Nicki Minaj Nail Polish Collection for O.P.I.

This month, (January 2012) O.P.I. released the Nicki Minaj collection complete with six cool colors all named after her music. The collection features a baby pink shade to similar to the baby pink lipstick she regularly sports, named Pink Friday, a lime green shade named “Did It On ‘Em” (ew really Nicki?), a cool metallic shade called Metallic 4 Life and more awesome colors I can’t wait to check out and so should you!

The Hottest Trends Spotted on New Year’s Eve

I went to downtown Ft. Lauderdale for New Year’s Eve, where the entire street was blocked off and you could bar hop, watch the ball drop, and see fireworks go off. It was pretty amazing. It was so packed, I saw a TON of guys and girls decked from head to toe for the big celebration. Snooki Rocks A Red Animal Print Dress & Sneaker Heels

Yanno, I’m not a big fan of the animal print dresses, or Snooki’s guidette style in general but I’ve got to give her a kudos for this look because this is one look I’d actually rock. Animal prints in a hot solid color like red is hot.

And I looooove sneaker heels. A neon color is super cool and I love how the neon yellow looks against the red. Opposite colors look hot together when they’re both of the same intensity. The biker jacket makes this look even edgier.

We know varsity/baseball jackets are in right now but now we have a varsity cardigan which layers lovely over a button up and tie for a sporty/gentleman look. The bright colors are cool, especially when it picks up colors from the tie peeking from underneath.

Winter Booties That Are Hot Right Now

Baby, it’s cold outside! Well, it’s not that cold if you live in Florida like me, hehe sorry had to rub it in, but let’s see which booties are hot right now for the winter season! I’m telling you, booties (which meet the ankle) and boots that meet about mid-calf, are super trendy right now! Knee-highs are out!

Furry Booties

Lose the knee high furry boots (those are so last year!) and shrink it down a little to the ankle or mid-calf, add some fur and lace, and you’ve got a cool, cozy hiker bootie!

Laces are hot! They can be rugged or trendy..check out these two styles below.

Clothing Wonders to Hide Your Bulging Tummy

A bulging tummy is always a cause of worry and no matter what you do, it undermines your confidence. Also, it limits your options in clothes. Your main aim should be to shift the focus away from your tummy region. You need to play it down a bit using patterns and drapes. These fixes will help you hide that cruel fat and make you look beautiful.

• Tunics – Tunics are in and out of fashion. Currently, they are. So, splurge on some nice A-line tunics. You will find a lot of tunic sweaters in the market that have perfect drapes. Long tunics that are a little loose or layered will also do you good. Tunics can be worn with anything – choose a contrasted skirt or skinny jeans. Try sticking to darker tones because they make you look leaner. If your lower body is on the heavier side then you must stick to blacks and navy blues for the bottoms. Do not wear a belt tightly, just let a cord belt hang loosely on your waist.
• Empire Waist – For those of you who do not know what that is, here is a general idea. The top is fitted just below your bust, almost on the bust line. It flows in a straight line or in a drape like manner below your bust. What is does best is to shift the focus away from your tummy. Just make sure that the top is not too fitted because you do not want to be mistaken for a pregnant woman.
• Banded top – A banded top usually creates a cylinder like shape, leaving the part from your neckline to your waist hanging loosely. Banded tops have unique neckline with halter straps, noodle straps et al giving the top some flair. The waist is usually elastic and broad. You can wear these tops with jeans or pencil skirts.
• Dresses – Wrap dresses top the list because of their ability to hide the tummy inconspicuously. These have been a part of the 70’s fashion and still remain a woman’s best friend. Also, the puff dresses of a certain cut can also be a pretty good option. You need to make sure that the puff starts right where the bust region ends. Do not go for puff dresses that are hugging till the waist line because you don’t want to look like a weightlifter. Tie a nice belt in satin if your dress doesn’t already come with one and you are set to turn heads.
• Blazers – Blazers that end just before your waist are a good option. Top a light colored top with a darker blazer so that an inch of the top is visible under the hemline of the blazer. This creates a nice visual contrast and helps in hiding that flab. Blazers that accentuate your curves are always good.

Remember that wearing oversized clothes do not do the trick; in fact, they ruin it. Be sure to stick to the above choices to camoflauge your bulging tummy and you will be all set to look as perfect as you can be.
